(flute, oboe and bassoon – 6:30)

Performers: NorthWind Trio (Peggy Doerrie, Tina James and Timothy Wells.)

Capriccio e Largo was commissioned by the St. Paul-based NorthWind Trio (flute, oboe and bassoon) for

their performance at the 2001 International Double Reed Society conference at West Virginia State

University. Composed in a ternary form, the outer sections feature a vibrant melody in alternating

quadruple and quintuple meters. The middle section is slower and lyrical, and gives each instrument a

chance to perform a soloist role.
